What UORA charges

UORA charges two fees and nothing else. Stage 1 pays for the notice stage. Stage 2 pays for the arbitration. Both figures are read from the platform's fee schedule when this page opens, so this page and the portal cannot state different amounts.

This page also sets out what the fees do not cover, when a fee is refunded, and the separate figures that are often confused with them: the remedies the parties agree to in the clause, which an award may order against the respondent, and the fees the Dubai Courts charge to ratify an award. Neither is money charged by UORA.

The two fees

They are not written into this page from memory, because a fee printed from memory can be out of date. The amount due is stated in the portal before any payment is taken, and support@uora.ae will confirm it in writing.

Stage 1 is payable when the claim is filed; screening follows. Stage 2 is payable only if the review is not removed during the notice stage and the claimant then elects to go to arbitration. A claimant who stops after Stage 1 pays nothing further. There is no subscription, no per-notice charge and no charge to the respondent.

What the fees do not cover

Legal translation of exhibits. UORA issues its own documents in English and Arabic. An exhibit that exists only in English must be put into Arabic by a legal translator before it can go before the Dubai Courts. That translation is arranged and paid for by the party filing it.
Dubai Courts filing fees. Ratification of an award is an application to the Dubai Court of Appeal. The court charges its own fees for it, and they are paid to the court, not to UORA. The figures from the pilot are set out below.
Enforcement. Execution of a ratified judgment, and anything that follows it, is a separate proceeding before the execution court. It is not part of either fee.

Refunds

Fees are non-refundable, except where a case is rejected at screening.

Screening happens before anything is served on the other party. A case that does not pass it produces no notice, no service and no proceeding, and the fee paid for that stage is refunded. No other outcome gives rise to a refund: the fee pays for the stage being run, and the stage is run whether or not its outcome favours the party who paid for it.

What the clause lets an award order

These are not UORA's prices The figures in this section are remedies the parties agreed between themselves in the arbitration clause. Where an award orders them, they are recovered from the respondent. UORA does not charge them, does not receive them and takes no share of them.

The clause also allows the arbitrator to award reasonable enforcement court fees. Every figure above is a ceiling the parties agreed, not an entitlement: an arbitrator may award all of it, part of it or none of it, and may order amendment or removal of the review instead of or as well as money. Dubai Courts fees on ratification

An award is made binding by ratification before the Dubai Court of Appeal under Article 55 of UAE Federal Law No. 6 of 2018. The court charges its own fees for that application. The amounts below are what was paid in the pilot ratification. They are an indication of the order of magnitude and nothing more.

Court fees change, and what is due depends on the application. The Dubai Courts portal states the amount payable at the time of filing, and that figure governs. Nothing on this page is a quotation of a court fee.
